Rynek Główny

Plan your visit

Kraków’s official city description says Rynek Główny was laid out in 1257 as a square about 200 metres on each side, at the meeting point of old trade routes. The city’s walking guide highlights the central Sukiennice, St Wojciech’s church, the surviving tower of the demolished town hall, and St Mary’s church with its notable altar. The guide notes cafés and restaurant patios around the square, an hourly hejnał from a Mariacki tower, and local traditions such as the Lajkonik procession and the nativity-scene contest.^[2][1]
